Welcome to my blog!
Welcome to my blog. My name is Nihal. I am a student at DMU International College. I am using this blog for my academic purposes. I am going to study architecture. I chose this university because this university has very good opportunities to improve your drawing skills and finding job after graduate in architecture.
I also chose this course because I want to be architect since my childhood. Watching home renovation shows is one of my favourite activitiy since I was little. While watching, I always thought about what would I do or change if I were there and I want to know how the architectures was built , how to create design of architecture. Historical buildings impress me with their marvelous and unique exterior and interior. I want to leave a permanent mark on the world like the other buildings.
Today I'm going to write about Sydney Opera House which is one of the most beautiful architecture in the world. Sydney Opera House is the symbol of Sydney as well as Australia. Also the building is a leading centre for the arts and a major part of Sydney and Australia's cultural landscape. 'Opera house located on Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour), New South Wales , Australia. It's unique use of a series of gleaming white sail-shaped shells as its roof structure makes it one of the most photographed buildings in the world' (Brittannica.com).
Opera house designed by the Danish architect Jørn Utzon. His design selected by an international judging committee in an international competition among 233 designs in 1957. His unique, modern and unusual design was advanced for its time in terms of technology, engineering and architecture. The Sydney Opera House constitutes a masterpiece of 20th century architecture. Its significance is based on its unparalleled design and construction; its exceptional engineering achievements and technological innovation and its position as a world-famous icon of architecture. It is a daring and visionary experiment that has had an enduring influence on the emergent architecture of the late 20th century. (unesco.org)
With its extraordinary structure, difference from other architectures and visual beauty ,the Sydney Opera House has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Thus , it has became one of the few architectures in the world on the UNESCO World Heritage List. On 28 June 2007 the Sydney Opera House was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List under the World Heritage Convention, placing it alongside the Taj Mahal, the ancient Pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall of China as one of the most outstanding places on Earth.
