Final Reflection
This is the last post for this term and this year and I will reflect my works and skills that I learned and developed during this term. I developed my knowledge about interior design and space while developing my project. Also I did many researches about interior designers, design styles, materials and colour palette. According to this researches I improved my knowledge and inspired by the others works. In this term, I designed two breakout spaces in art factory building. Because that I was designing two spaces in same building I used same colour palette to make the spaces relevant to each other. I designed both places in contemporary style but also make the ground floor ,which is recreation area, more vibrant and playful. Besides the ground floor, I used more calming and also energised colours tones in first floor. With these two spaces I learned and understood how to use same colour palette with different tones to give different vibes to the environment.
I used my time more properly than second term even thought I did more work than second term. I developed my time management skills but still I need to improve. Compare to second term, I did the concept sketches much better and improved my perspective drawing skills and colouring skills. I used light pad in some concept sketches and then make some changes on them. I can use light pad to improve more about perspective drawing.
I used HomeStyler software for this term’s project. I chose this software because it has more options for furniture, decorating and materials. Additionally, the images that I took was more realistic than the. I created the closest design to what I want. Because of these, digital design went well and I found mostly what I want to use.
For this project I did a physical 3D outcome and with this outcome I developed my modelling skills and learn more about scale. Also I followed my production plan better than previous term and I will keep improving my time management skills.
I learned a lot in this foundation year. Some basic painting and crafting skills from 2D & 3D processing, doing researches and referencing from digital arts and contextual studies and some basic knowledge about interior design from art portfolio. I had so much fun and, gain and developed many skills from these classes. I really felt the support and encouragement from our tutors and it helped me to share my ideas and not be afraid of making mistakes. And also now I feel more confident and comfortable to study in undergraduate. I'm looking forward to expand my knowledge about my subject area and do lots of practices and modelling.
