Art Portfolio 1: Initial Research

This term I will be working on a fine dining restaurant design project. I will use both digital software and hand-drawing and sketching. I want to use dim lightning in my design. I was thinking to use table lamp or a dim yellow lamp hanging above the table. I researched fine dining restaurants and most of them has dim lightning with warm colors. This dim lightning helps people to relax and feel comfortable. It has also another positive impact that people stay longer in restaurants . Dim lighting encourages extended dining times and heightened social interactions, which might contribute to prolonged periods of eating and potentially higher food intake. Nadzieja Restaurant

I researched some fine dining restaurants in Bauhaus theme. I found this restaurant called ''Nadzieja Restaurant'' placed in Poland. This restaurant is a really good example for dim lightning. It has also dim light lamp  hanging above each table and extra lamps on the walls. Placement of each lamp hanging above each table is giving perfect appearance and also create a beautiful layout. Windows have been left curtain-less to let in the maximum amount of natural light. Pendant lamps that dangle from the ceiling can also be switched on as evening falls and dimmed to foster a more intimate ambience. (Natasha Levy, 2019) 



The Silver Birch

In this restaurant they used dim lightning in different way except lamps hanging above each tables. They used led lights on the walls and ceiling ,which is reflecting the artworks on the wall . This restaurant has clearer appearance rather than other one because in this restaurant lightnings are hidden and place is well lit. Although the first example looks really nice and chic the lightning in the second example is better for costumers to see each other and food. 


The other most important thing in fine dining restaurants is seating furniture and plan. People who come these restaurants want to be comfortable and relaxed and don't bother from others. Because of that it is important to leave enough space between the tables. And the seating need to be comfortable and simple and should not take up so much place. Bauhaus theme furniture's most important feature is being simple and functional. With the right arrangement of these simple and basic furniture and decorations give a chic and luxurious appearance to the restaurant. Elegantly designed interiors, sophisticated table settings, and carefully curated artwork all play a role in creating a welcoming and upscale environment. Soft lighting enhances the mood, while comfortable seating allows guests to linger and enjoy their meals without feeling rushed.  (the Exeter Daily, 2024)


I will use dim lightning and comfortable seating that I talked above in my project. I am thinking to add different seating options that people can choose wherever they want to seat. Also I want to use hidden led lightning that will reflect some paintings or decorations such as plants , flowers or vases. I will decide my color palette and start doing my sketches.

Sequential Image Class Practice

We completed a class practice on creating sequential images this week.  I decided to take a couple of live photos of me and my friend are jumping . This pictures shows our actions and movements from standing to jumping into the air.  I used Iphone 14 Pro phone. I used 'burst' option in the camera and I set the timer for 5 seconds to capture our picture in the air. These are the settings below. In these pictures we inspired by Jumping Horse (1887) by Eadweard Muybridge. His photos include one horse and the man on the horse are jumping over an obstacle. And we decided take similar pictures like his photos which I put down below. And these are my original pictures.  The next step is that I am going to put my images together in Pixlr Editor. Major project : Initial ideas

 For digital arts I'm going to create project for our subject area. My subject area is interior design.   contemporary minimalist design of living room   I looked up some interior designs to decide what kind of design I wanted to do. I liked minimalist design, modern design and industrial design. And I searched a little bit more then I found contemporary design which is contains modernism, minimalism and art deco.
