First Thoughts and Exhibition Visit

Expressionism is about reflecting dark and distortion on painting or object that we made. With high contrast , imagery , shadows and silhouettes it has a Gothic vibe and style. 

Early delights theme is basically inspiring from nature and the human to design and create things. Main purposes of the theme of early delights are make people more comfortable , using sustainable and recyclable or reusable materials in designs. Other thing that important for the early delights theme is protecting the environment with using local and reusable sources .

Bauhaus theme is more popular theme that I heard and see. Most important thing about Bauhaus theme is that everything has a purpose. This purpose helps society o improve and develop. Color theory , simplicity, functionality, ornamented design and  modernism are the aims of the Bauhaus theme. 

Mixed media is a combination of variety methods including traditional and digital methods. It is like a visual collage. It can also be combined with newspaper and magazines and drawing and painting. 


Bauhaus theme is most drawn to me because it has simple and clean lines in designs. Bauhaus theme has very important principles such as simplicity, minimalism , sustainability and functionality. These are the principles that I want to apply and use in my designs. Also I like interiors that have wide and large space. It gives a spacious and comfortable environment when you enter the building. Open floor plans and large windows can help to make space more wide and spacious. Balanced asymmetry, functional furniture, abstract shapes for decor and basic industrial materials are other important features that used in Bauhaus theme and I am so exited to use these features in my designs. I really want to use asymmetric objects in my project I think it gives an attention and look exciting. 


EXHITION VISIT

We went to New Walk Museum with our tutors in third lesson for art portfolio. The museum had a lot of expressionism themed artworks. It helps us to more understand about the expressionism. We bring our A4 sketchbooks and pens and pencils with us. First we look at the artworks inside the museum then chose three artwork that we want to draw. And took some pictures to complete our work later. 

First I chose this artwork to draw and my drawing. This artwork called Toter Baum (Dead Tree). This artwork is an oil painting, made by German-Jewish artist Ernst Neuschul created in 1933.




Second I chose this artwork to draw and this is my final artwork. This artwork called Bauerngang (Peasants Strolling). This artwork is a woodcut, made by German Expressionist artist Heinrich Campendonk created in 2018. 


The drawing is a caricature of Engelbert Dollfuss, Chancellor of Austria from 1932. This artwork was drawn by Frederick Joss with brush and ink drawing.

Sequential Image Class Practice

We completed a class practice on creating sequential images this week.  I decided to take a couple of live photos of me and my friend are jumping . This pictures shows our actions and movements from standing to jumping into the air.  I used Iphone 14 Pro phone. I used 'burst' option in the camera and I set the timer for 5 seconds to capture our picture in the air. These are the settings below. In these pictures we inspired by Jumping Horse (1887) by Eadweard Muybridge. His photos include one horse and the man on the horse are jumping over an obstacle. And we decided take similar pictures like his photos which I put down below. And these are my original pictures.  The next step is that I am going to put my images together in Pixlr Editor. Major project : Initial ideas

 For digital arts I'm going to create project for our subject area. My subject area is interior design.   contemporary minimalist design of living room   I looked up some interior designs to decide what kind of design I wanted to do. I liked minimalist design, modern design and industrial design. And I searched a little bit more then I found contemporary design which is contains modernism, minimalism and art deco. It doesn't refer any specific time in contemporary design. It is always changing and it represents a popular styles of present day.
