Focus Group Presentation Questions

Image
In this post I will discuss focus group group presentation and feedback that I received from classmates. Before presentation I prepared some questions to ask my classmates. These are my questions:  Do you think this design is accessible and comfortable for students ?  What can I add or take out in this design ideas?  What do you think that  I can change in the design of sofa to do more accessible?  What do you want in break out space ?   Which layout of space planning will work better?  And here is the link for the recording of group presentation:  focus group presentation First I started with presenting my brief to them. Then I presented my digital prototypes and two 3D physical model to my group. I also showed some ideas that I sketched in week 1-2 to to describe them why I used this elements in my design.  I received some helpful feedbacks from this presentation. They liked the general design and find it accessible. They told me to ke...

Focus Group (Prototyping) Presentation

Image
In this post I will answer some questions about my prototypes that I made. ●  Does it work? It does work but it was harder than I expected to do with prototypes. While making physical prototype it was hard to adapt them in the space with real dimensions.  For digital prototypes it helped me to see my options for furniture. Because with some furniture it was so hard to fit in space so I have to change or remove them especially in ground floor. I wanted to make a recreation area but the games didn't fit that I expected. So I removed some of them and put two games but  still I have concerns about the space because people will walk inside the room while other students playing.   ● Does it look as you hoped? I used real dimensions and used 1/50 scale for my prototype . It looked like as I hoped but it can be improved. It is good because I can fit everything that I wanted in this design.  ● Is the design working as a whole? I didn't design the whole area so far b...

Physical Prototype Processes

Image
In this post I will show my physical prototype process. First I started doing first floor's design. I used real dimensions of room and did in 1/50 scale. However I didn't measure the height so I did from my mind and made shorter to see better inside but I should have make higher to understand the space well and design for that. After I measured every wall in 1/50 scale I cut them off from mountboard and then combined them with PVA glue. I also cut the windows and doors then I added the lift in the corner.  Then I started making furniture. For this process I also looked the real dimensions and used 1/50 scale to reach best outcome. This part was hard for me especially the chairs, I had to make tiny pieces and sticked them with glue. I tried to make the essentials in this physical model because I had a limited time and this was an exercise. I did chairs, tables, sofa cupboard and bookshelf. After I finished making furniture models I started placing them this helped me to see all ...

Digital Prototypes

Image
In this post, I will show my digital prototypes process. Before I start prototyping I measure two break out spaces with Billie's help. Then I used the real dimensions in software and started designing the spaces. This term I wanted to try  new software except homebyme so I chose coohom. I chose this software because it has more options for everything so I can find the closest thing that I want to use .  First I created a room in same dimensions. Then placed the doors and find some furniture that I want to use. These are just symbolic furniture and decorations to see how it is gonna fit and what can I add. I placed the sofa and table first then tried to place the table games. I struggled to place the games because each game need a space to move around and walk and also I have to consider the doors too. I made this design but I will try different designs too and decide which will work better.  I can place wider benches instead of sofas to save some space for other furniture...

Further Development

Image
In this post I will add all my developments that I did including space planning, developing the design and concept sketch. First I did some space planning diagrams for both break out space. For the ground floor I am thinking to do a recreation area that people can more have fun. I leave a space for table games and next to the table games I placed seating area. As there is 3 opening which people will enter or exit, I have to leave enough space to walk in the room. Also there is 2 storage room in the right wall between doors so I have to consider all these while designing the space. In first space planning I placed the seating area in the corner and also next to the opening there is some empty space so I thought I can place comfortable benches with small coffee tables and in the middle of the room I can place the table games so it allows more space for people.  In the second planning I changed the table games place with seating area. Also I added shelves for board games so I ca...

Initial Visual Research

Image
In this post, I will do a visual research to gather some images to develop my project idea. I will do this research in  many areas such as, materials, space planning, furniture, colour palette. This research will help me to learn more about designing and combining different elements together.  First, I will look different office break out designs and I will analyse the usage of different furniture, colour, pattern and materials in area.  In these two images different vibrant colours attracts attention and using vibrant colours in these areas adds vitality into that space.  As we can see in the images there are many different seating options with more comfortable sofas and high chairs and picnic benches in the same place. Putting these different seating areas all together without separation increases the social atmosphere in that space.  Taking some rest and break, clearing your head with games and fun improves focus in lectures because of this the break out spac...

Development Exercise: Creating Studies

Image
In this post I will choose one of the ideas that I sketched and one image that I generated with Deep AI. As I couldn't find so much inspiration from AI images I decided to create more specific images. I chose little gallery area idea to develop so I wrote more detailed prompt into Deep AI and generate more images. I want to put glass cupboards over the wall and painting all over the wall. I wrote 'seating area on the corner of the room with some artworks onto wall and shelves. also a glass cupboard to represent students' artwork showcase about artworks in tv. two mannequins for fashion students. comfortable wide and large and curved sofa with table in front. in university art factory building' into prompt and here some images generated with AI. Figure 1 (Deep AI, 2025) Figure 2 (Deep AI, 2025) Figure 3 (Deep AI, 2025) Figure 4 (Deep AI, 2025) After I generate these images I had an idea to place the sofas, cupboard and students' artworks. These images gave me an idea...
