Image
This is a reflection for Digital Arts Spring Term. In this post I will reflect my works which I did during this term. I will start reflecting with the first project in class which is a sequential images practice. It was our first group project in the term. We took some moving pictures with using the Burst option in camera with using mobile phone. We used the images of process from jumping. From our position on the ground to jumping into the air. We quite enjoyed taking these pictures together. And then we put in order the images and did final work of this project. Next project was creating an advertisement. There is so many options to do an advertisement. Hardest part of this project was choosing an object or a service to make an advertisement about it. I decided to do a gum advertisement which is funny and enjoyable to research and create an advertisement. I decided to do very colorful and fun poster for my advertisement and I decided that my target audience will be Generation Z and G...

Website Evaluation

Image
Now I completed all the pages of my website so I will be evaluating it in here by checking some questions.  Planning stage: What were your initial ideas for creating a website? style / name / template  My initial idea was create a website to show my works and projects with details and researches. As an  interior design student the site name need to include my name and my company name. I chose a interior design template which is my subject area. Do you have a tagline on your website?  I don't have a tagline in my website. I just have a subheading which is my subject area right under my name.  Research:  Which designers / artists (relevant to your continuation route) websites did you look for inspiration?   I looked at the websites of Nate Berkus and Dorothy Draper. Both websites was fun to look at it. Dorothy Draper's website was very colorful because of the designs that she made. Nate Berkus's website was simple, chic and elegant. I wanted to like Nate...

Digital Art: UX Testing & Feedback

Image
I tested my website with using the UX testing. This is a testing for taking user's feedback related to their experience of using the website. First I created a form for user's feedbacks with 8 question and 4 different responses for each question. Then I putted the link into my website under the contact page.  Here is my website's UX testing and feedback. In my UX testing I got 8 feedback. This responses were about my homepage design. Most of the people liked the design of the homepage. But it still can be improve because %75 people responded as good and it will can be perfect with some changes.   The second question is about the menu links and social links work correctly or not. % 62.5 people said it worked perfectly however %25 of people said it was good and %12.5 people said it is fair. Then I checked my links and I saw that the link in the LinkedIn was going to people's own accounts not mine. Then I changed the link in the LinkedIn and tried again and now its workin...

Digital Arts Major Project: Tiny Tiny House- Process Two

Image
I continued doing my design , after I finished the bathroom I started to do kitchen. I thought about how I could separate the kitchen and living room. Then I looked same examples to understand how to manage the space to fit kitchen and living room into one space.      open-layout kitchen example 1   open-layout kitchen example 2 This is the kitchen I designed. I had to put the dishwasher and washing machine in kitchen but still it doesn't look crowd as I thought. After I placed every furniture that should be in kitchen I added some decorations. And also I added a small table between kitchen and living room.   Then I designed living room which is in the same place with kitchen. There is one sofa and television cabinet and TV and decorative bookshelf next to the TV unit. I put coffee table which is compatible with carper and other furniture. I put two same lightning both in living room and entrance. This is how it looks like after designing.  Last room th...

Digital Arts Major Project: Tiny Tiny House - Process One

Image
After software practice with HomeByMe, I started my interior design project for small flat house. First I researched some color palettes that can fit my minimalist-contemporary style. I found three color palette ideas which I can use in my project. In my project I will use beige, white and light brown colors  in many parts of the house. And I will add some blue decorations and accessories to make house look  more lively and vibrant.  Color Palette Ideas After I chose the color palette I created a floor in HomeByme for my house. I divided the floor to three rooms for bedroom, bathroom and living room with open-kitchen. I chose simple white doors for rooms. I placed the doors  so that they opened into the room.  Then I tried some flooring types to chose which one suits best. First I looked gray and white parquets to show the house more modern and wider. But then I tried them with furniture and it didn't look good because the furniture were the same color wit...

Digital Workshop: Interior Design

Image
Today I am doing digital workshop for interior design on Photoshop. I'll be starting to design my presentation boards. I began by creating a canvas. I clicked on 'file' in the top menu and then clicked on 'new'. Then I clicked on 'print' in the top menu and selected'A3 landscape orientation' and checked it was 300pt quality. Then I chose 'white background' and clicked 'create'. To design the board I chose two different backgrounds that were in abstract accessories design so I could design which one I wanted to use.   To decide which background I wanted I uploaded to 'Photoshop' by clicking on 'file' and 'open'. Then I clicked on the tab for each and on the layers menu I clicked on the padlock to unlock each background as this opens up the opacity, so I  tried to lower opacity to see how it look. Then I chose the image which I liked then I clicked on 'select' and 'select all'. Then I clicked ...

Further Research: Nate Berkus

Image
Nate Berkus was born in Orange County, California in 1971. He studied at Lake Forest College and in 1994 he graduated from school with degrees in French and Sociology. " After college, Berkus founded his interior design firm, Nate Berkus Associates, at 24 in Chicago in 1995. The firm works on high-end residential and commercial projects worldwide and is known for 'timeless and deeply personal' spaces that 'tell your story' ." (architecture lab, 2024). I will be analyzing Hancock Park design by Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent. Hancock Park is a family house which renovated from 1928 Spanish Colonial. Originally, the house was built and designed as a Tudor-Style home which is comprised of small, dark rooms in 1925. In 2019, Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent redesigned the house with protecting historical and antique view of the house. '' Berkus and Brent focused on restoring and preserving the home’s original Spanish Colonial elements, including the antique ...
