Farm Cup Coffee Shop by Liqui Design

I chose this Farm Cup Coffee Shop by Liqui Design as my second research. I chose this coffee shop because it gave me a warm, lively and natural atmosphere when I first saw it. Farm Cup Coffee Shop which is located in Los Angeles is cafe during the day and also work as a cocktail bar at night. 

As we can see in the picture there is bar counter in curved shape with bar stools. Bar counter is made from natural wood and they used same material on the bar stools sitting part. Under the bar counter covered with white rectangle marbles and also under the bar stools painted in white. The cabinet on which the led lights are mounted above the bar is also designed in the same colour as the bar counter. This symmetry created a beautiful appearance. 


The bar counter caught my attention because I also want to design a coffee counter like this curved shape and want to put high chairs around the counter. I found a concept sketch for bar counter in this cafe design. I can see how its similar in real and concept sketch . This concept sketch gave me an idea that how can I  draw the counter area and the background of the counter.  



The usage of the natural wood and wooden colour all over the cafe including the bar counter, tables and ceiling makes the cafe look spacious and  large. Also with decorations and accessorizes such as; plant pots which are hanging from ceiling and little trees and plants around the cafe and wallpaper patterned with tree creates natural, organic and peaceful  environment.With its bohemian details, the cafe design also reflects the cultural diversity of the Echo Park neighborhood where it is located.The Bali influence of the interior design comes through in the predominance of rattan style chairs complimented by the large woven shades of the pendant lighting. Coffee counter is separate than the bar counter. They placed coffee counter right next to the front door that people can order coffee and desert from desert cupboard. Wicker rattan style lamp shades supports the organic and natural atmosphere in the cafe. Also some plant pots and decorations made from wicker. The Bali influence of the interior design comes through in the predominance of rattan style chairs complimented by the large woven shades of the pendant lighting (Cameron Fry). This coffee shop design has multiple different seating areas. High chairs around the bar counter, large and comfortable sofas, rattan chairs and also yellow wide  and comfortable chairs next to windows. These all are give an option to costumers to chose wherever they want to sit. This is what I want to do in my project, to include as many different seating areas as possible. 



The wide and large windows allows sunlight to reflect and illuminate the interior. Also they used yellow lamps rather than white lamps and this warm light help to costumers feel relaxed and comfortable like sunlight but in artificially. 

In conclusion; curved shaped bar counter , many different seating options, organic decorations and colour palette gave me some opinions to do my own project. I will develop these ideas into my project. 







I tried to draw round shaped counter and window seat with  perspective drawing. I made some mistakes with chairs and lamps. I couldn't apply perspective in proper way and I didn't give so much time on this drawing so the outcome is not good enough. But still then I applied watercolour on drawing to see how the colours gonna work together. 
I can try to made different tones with same colour because in this picture it is look like I applied same tone of brown to most of the area. I can apply colour more than this image because when I scan it the lighter colours seem like invisible. Overall, it was good practice for perspective drawing and applying watercolour on it.

    Okay, there are clearer links to your idea from this research than in previous posts. Would be good to see you include a sket5ch of your own to help demonstrate how this research is informing the development of your concept.

Sequential Image Class Practice

We completed a class practice on creating sequential images this week.  I decided to take a couple of live photos of me and my friend are jumping . This pictures shows our actions and movements from standing to jumping into the air.  I used Iphone 14 Pro phone. I used 'burst' option in the camera and I set the timer for 5 seconds to capture our picture in the air. These are the settings below. In these pictures we inspired by Jumping Horse (1887) by Eadweard Muybridge. His photos include one horse and the man on the horse are jumping over an obstacle. And we decided take similar pictures like his photos which I put down below. And these are my original pictures.  The next step is that I am going to put my images together in Pixlr Editor.
