Space Planning

Before I start planning the whole design idea first I started doing some space planning sketches as my tutor told me. I did space planning drawings in different shapes and sizes to decide which one will fit better. I decided which sections do I need in cafe and these are; kitchen, staff room, cafe bar/ counter, bathrooms which include gender neutral and disabled bathrooms, seating areas for costumers and also self order place with digital screen. Here some space planning designs that I did. 

My target audience was millennials at first because I chose it is wider audience for costumers. Because of that I added some high chairs for some space plannings but it was not enough, I also have to think about their kids, babies for example putting baby changing stations into cafe. Then I talked with my tutor and she told me that you know better gen z people and I changed my target audience. 

I decided to shape of the space and did a final space planning sketch before I started doing floor plan. I put digital order screen next to the door and added storage area into kitchen and put a staff room for employees. I covered a wall with windows for window seat area with high chairs and table. I placed an extra toilet for disabled/ neutral gender toilet. 

After this I will research for average cafe dimensions and start planning and finalizing  floor plan with real dimensions.
