Portfolio Design Research

In this post I am gonna research some interior design portfolio examples and write about that I like. Then I will choose my portfolio design and start doing my design boards. First I opened Behance website and searched for interior design portfolios. 

First portfolio that I looked is this one. At first I chose this because of the cover, it is simple and show the interior design subject. Then I examined the rest of portfolio. It divided two sections; one section for image from project and some description of this project and keywords and other section for colour palette, design board and floor plans. It organized well that what she wanted to tell and show in her portfolio. In the design boards she avoided unnecessary information about project and this is good for clarity. 

In this portfolio I liked the usage of colour palette and concept board together with in harmony. Also I liked the keywords section under the description of project. However, I think description and keywords font size are too small to read easily.

Other portfolio that I looked at it is this one. I really liked the cover page it is so creative and show reflect the subject area of this portfolio. Other thing that I really liked in this portfolio is hand drafted floor plan with furniture and flooring and decorations. Floor plan with all these details provides an overall  view of the project. Also small design concept description gives an information about that project in same page. Additionally, making a mood board and materials for interior is a good idea to show the furniture and materials and flooring that used in that project.

These two portfolios were my favourites among those I looked. I had an idea to create my own portfolio. I want to use colour palette with concept board and mood board and materials in my portfolio design.

After the research that I done I will have these concept boards in my portfolio;
  1. Portfolio cover with my name, year and project name and also I will add small image of my project
  2. I will write a description of my project with an image
  3. I will add the floor plan with dimensions
  4. I will make a mood board including furniture, decorations , materials , flooring and lightings
  5. I will add 3D outcomes for each section and put detailed images.

I did my research by looking portfolio examples and making a list that I have to add to my portfolio. I will do another post to show my portfolio making process.

Sequential Image Class Practice

We completed a class practice on creating sequential images this week.  I decided to take a couple of live photos of me and my friend are jumping . This pictures shows our actions and movements from standing to jumping into the air.  I used Iphone 14 Pro phone. I used 'burst' option in the camera and I set the timer for 5 seconds to capture our picture in the air. These are the settings below. In these pictures we inspired by Jumping Horse (1887) by Eadweard Muybridge. His photos include one horse and the man on the horse are jumping over an obstacle. And we decided take similar pictures like his photos which I put down below. And these are my original pictures.  The next step is that I am going to put my images together in Pixlr Editor. Major project : Initial ideas

 For digital arts I'm going to create project for our subject area. My subject area is interior design.   contemporary minimalist design of living room   I looked up some interior designs to decide what kind of design I wanted to do. I liked minimalist design, modern design and industrial design. And I searched a little bit more then I found contemporary design which is contains modernism, minimalism and art deco. It doesn't refer any specific time in contemporary design. It is always changing and it represents a popular styles of present day.
