Kettle Black Café by Studio You Me

Kettle Black Café designed by Studio You Me is placing in South Melbourne in Australia. Cafe has classical and also modern style. It has a timeless design with all simple and compatible furniture. Light and bright colours and decorations give a great appearance to cafe. With the simple, comfortable and space saving furniture it allows so much space for costumers and this helps to costumers feel relaxed and comfortable. Seating up to 70, the café can accommodate a wide range of social groupings and moods, thanks to the thoughtful placement of furniture that breaks the space into smaller intimate areas.(Australian Design Review, 2015)

Cafe has modern minimalist furniture that gives a warm and spacious space. For the wall behind the bar there is a green mosaic tiles all over the wall gives a place playful touch.  Also there are white marble tiles on the ground at the entrance ,the wall of the water basin and under the cafe bar. Although the tiles have different colours, textures and shapes they all match each other and create a clean look.   With light walls, not so detailed furniture, some little organic shaped decorations and high ceiling shows the place clean and spacious. Also it is a good example of earthly delight themed cafe which I will do in my project. Kettle Black is no ordinary place. Sitting somewhere between a cafe and a restaurant, the space almost creates it’s own new genre of venue. The interior palette was carefully curated with warm finishes of soft oak timbers and polished concrete, offset by punchy mischievous green furniture and tiled walls. (Team Yellowtrace, 2015)

As it told at the above this place is not only a cafe it's between cafe and restaurant. They provide different foods and drinks so this attract more people and their customer type expand with this range of food choices. But after all, this place designed as a cafe and it has a cafe features and facilities. Colour palette usage is well organized .
Most important information for this cafe is Kettle Black Café won the Eat-Drink-Design award for  Best  Cafe Design in 2015. Here is a small part from jury citation from Eat-Drink-Design Awards. The Kettle Black sits at the apotheosis of cafe design right now light, airy, spacious, where everything is carefully considered yet it all comes across as insouciant in the extreme. ( The Stella Collective, 2015)
Juries liked the combination of the colours and different type of materials that used in design. Also they are pleased that the cafe have a minimalist and simple design but it still not boring and every details carefully considered and appeals to the eye. Even the gold details on the lightnings and on shelves it is not tiring the eyes and matches well with other colours.

Overall, it is a good example for cafe interior design and it related with earthly delights theme which I will use in my project. The usage of the small plant pots all over the cafe and some little organic shaped decorations  reflects the earthly delights style well, I am thinking use such these decorations and accessories in my project. Also with flowers and good lightning it will attractive for genz. Different types of sitting options help to fit more people in cafe and I will put different seating options such as sofa , chair and higher chair for window seat. Different type of flooring and mosaic and tiles gave a lively atmosphere to cafe which I wanted to do in my cafe project. I don't want to do a boring cafe design , I want to impress people when the enter the cafe.
